I showed this to her late one evening as we sat in my car, exhausted from the day we just had.
She loved it.
I leaned over to her at one point and told her it was written for her. It was her song. Kaylee's song.
I played it for her about 5 times that evening.
It was one of the best nights of my life.

it's 9:00 a.m. and i am scratching all of the diseases off of my skin
you filled my insides up with dirt but i haven't grown much since
i haven't started growing yet and i wonder when i'll start growing
you are here inside my lungs you are hiding in my tummy crushing every breathe i take
it's 9:03 a.m. and i cant breathe right i cant breathe
it's 9:05 now time passes so slowly this summer weather makes me long for a love
that won't leave me in the morning and somehow still linger 'round 'till the next night
it's 9:07 a.m. and i think it's funny how the marks left on my body weren't made when
you were here you didn't have to hit too hard for it to hurt
you didn't have to hit but
i woke up at 9:00 a.m. and found the imprint of your hand against my cheek and it's redder than
i thought it would be i didn;t think it would be this red i didn't think it would hurt so much
i didnt think you would hurt so much but you hurt so much
it hurts so much and
it's almost 9:13 now and i promise that if you were still around i'd turn the other cheek for you
and then i'd wonder why i'd wake up the next morning at 9:00 a.m. to find you not in the sheets beside me
all that's left of you is the scent in my sheets rosy scars on my cheeks and
i think it's past 11:00 a.m. when i finally get up to
look out of the curtains
it's sometime past 11 i think and i want you to know that the sun still shines without you
but
i guess my skin is just colder than it used to be
it takes too long to warm up it takes too too long to warm up
i think it's almost noon maybe by the time that i lift up the window it's sometime past noon and
i want you to know that the birds still sing without you here
but
i guess my ears just aren't what they used to be
it's 9:00 a.m. and i still feel the dirt you left inside of me
